Singaporean Coordinating Minister for National Security Pays Courtesy Call on Cambodian PM

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received here at the Peace Palace this morning visiting Singaporean Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security H.E. Teo Chee Hean.

H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Personal Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, said that in the courtesy meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke highly of the relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Singapore, and called on both sides to push the implementation of the agreements and memorandums of understanding already signed, especially on energy and voluntary carbon markets.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister thanked the Government and people of Singapore for sending athletes to participate in the SEA Games in Cambodia, which makes the regional sporting event more solemn.

For his part, H.E. Teo Chee Hean congratulated Cambodia on the smooth, great and successful organisation of SEA Games, affirming that all athletes and participants enjoyed warm welcome.

The Singapore coordinating minister also praised the Royal Government of Cambodia on the successful efforts against the COVID-19 and the successful hosting of the ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Phnom Penh last year.

Cambodian Vovinam Athletes Grab Another Gold Medal

Cambodia this morning gained another gold medal for Vovinam in Women’s Pair Knife Form at the 32nd SEA Games being held from May 5 to 17, bringing the host country's gold medal tally to 38.

Ms. Pov Sokha and Ms. Seur Chanleakhena won the gold medal with a total score of 270.

Cambodia has so far, obtained 38 gold medals: 9 in Vovinam, 8 in Kun Bokator, 4 in Chinlone, 3 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Kun Khmer, 2 in Soft Tennis, 2 in E-Sports, 2 in Triathlon, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 1 in Basketball, 1 in Cricket, 1 in Karate, 1 in Pencak Silat, and 1 Billiard.

Twenty-Three (23) types of sports are on today's competition list including Cricket, Golf, Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), Petanque, Vovinam, Athletics, Swimming, Badminton, Basketball, E-Sports, Sepak Takraw, Soft Tennis, Tennis, Field Hockey, Pencak Silat, Billard, Table Tennis, Diving, Volleyball, Gymnastic, Boxing, Kun Khmer, and Football.

A 1,203-strong Cambodian delegation, including 896 athletes, have been taking part in the 32nd SEA Games that the Kingdom is hosting for the first time in 64 years under the motto “Sport: Living in Peace”.

Cambodia bagged 63 medals – nine gold, 13 silver and 41 bronze – in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in 2022.

Cambodian PM Hopes FFC President Not to Resign

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has expressed his hope that H.E. Gen. Sao Sokha, President of the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) will remain in this position.

“As the Prime Minister, I'd like to appeal to H.E. Sao Sokha not to resign from the presidency of FFC,” he said in a special voice message shared this afternoon.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen noticed that even though Cambodia was defeated by Myanmar 0-2 in a match of Men’s U-22 Football at the SEA Games 2023, held at the National Olympic Stadium last night, Cambodia's football sector has seen dramatic progress.

H.E. Gen. Sao Sokha announced his resignation immediately after the Cambodian U-22 team lost to Myanmar U-22 team.

The SEA Games Men’s Football started on April 29, 2023. The Cambodian U-22 team has beaten Timorese counterpart 4-0, drawn 1-1 with the Philippines, and lost to Myanmar 2-0.

The Cambodian-U 22 team will meet Indonesian counterpart soon, but it is hard for Cambodia to survive Group A qualification tournament.

Regional Athletes to Compete in Different Events of Over 20 Sports Today

Athletes from the ten member countries of ASEAN and Timor-Leste will compete in various events of more than 20 types of sports at the 32nd SEA Games being hosted by Cambodia on May 8.

Those sports are Triathlon, Cricket, Golf, Kun Bokator, Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), Petanque, Vovinam, Athletics, Swimming, Mountain Bike, Badminton, E-Sports, Karate, Sepak Takraw, Soft Tennis, Tennis, Pencak Silat, Artistic Gymnastics, Billard, Sailing, Volleyball, Boxing, Kun Khmer, and Football.

The sports events will take place at different sport venues in the capital of Phnom Penh, and in the provinces of Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk and Kep.

As of May 7, Cambodia gained in total 72 medals, staying at the top of the Medal Table for three consecutive days. Of the 72 medals, 29 are gold, 21 are silver and 22 are bronze.

The 29 gold medals include 6 in Vovinam, 4 in Kun Bokator, 4 in Chinlone, 3 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Kun Khmer, 2 in Soft Tennis, 2 in E-Sports, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 1 in Aquathlon, 1 in Basketball, 1 in Cricket, 1 in Karate, and 1 in Pencak Silat.

32nd SEA Games: Triathlon and Kun Bokator Bring Three More Gold Medals to Cambodia

Cambodia this morning grabbed three more gold medals – one in Triathlon and two in Kun Bokator – at the 32nd SEA Games, bringing the host country’s gold medal tally to 32.

Athlete Ms. Margot Morakot Garabedian won the gold medal in Triathlon (750-metre swimming, 20-kilometre cycling, 5-kilometre running) in Kep province.

This is the second gold medal earned by Ms. Margot Morakot Garabedian, while the first one was won on May 6 in Aquathlon.

The Kun Bokator gold medalists are Mr. Ay Sam Un and Ms. Sin Sivesien in Men's and Women's Single Phkak Form at the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh.

Cambodia has now gained in total 75 medals – 33 gold, 21silver and 22 bronze medals.

Athlete Sean Chanhuot Earns Another Gold Medal in Vovinam for Cambodia

Cambodian Vovinam athlete Sean Chanhuot this morning grabbed another gold medal in Men's Long Stick Form event at the 32nd SEA Games being hosted by the Kingdom from May 5 to 17.

The Cambodian athlete scored 270 higher than the athletes from Myanmar (264), Thailand (261), and Indonesia (262).

This is the 7th gold medal in Vovinam, bringing the host country's gold medal tally to 33.

Of the 33 gold medals, 7 in Vovinam, 6 in Kun Bokator, 4 in Chinlone, 3 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Kun Khmer, 2 in Soft Tennis, 2 in E-Sports, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 2 in Triathlon, 1 in Basketball, 1 in Cricket, 1 in Karate, and 1 in Pencak Silat.

In the same morning, Cambodia also won three more silver medals – one in Vovinam and two in Kun Bokator.

Cambodia claimed four more gold medals -- one in Vovinam, two in Kun Bokator, and one in Billiard Carom -- at the 32nd SEA Games being hosted by Cambodia from May 5 to 17, bringing the host country's gold medal tally to 37.

The gold medalists are Ms. Pal Chhorvy, Mr. Dep Nget, Mr. Chon Cheth, and Ms. Sruong Pheavy.

SEA Games 2023: Cambodia Wins a Gold Medal for Taqball

Cambodia won four medals for Men’s Single, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Men's Doubles of Taqball held at the Federation of Youth Hall at a part of the SEA Game 2023 in Phnom Penh this afternoon.

Cambodia attained one gold medal for Men’s Single by athlete Riem Sokphirom who lost to his Indonesian counterpart Yoga Ardika Putra 9-12 for Set 1, but took the lead and overcame his counterpart 12-6 for Set 2, making Cambodia manage to catch up with Indonesia.

Set 3 was the most interesting competition as both sides reached set point three times, Set 13, Set 15, and 16. Finally, Cambodian player Riem Sokphirom defeated his rival 16-14.

Besides, Cambodia got three silver medals for Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Men's Doubles.

Cambodian players Yorn Sophornreaksmey and Yem Neardey scored behind their Thai rivals Jutatip Kuntatong and Suphawadi Wongkhamchan 3-12 and 2-13 for Set 1 and Set 2 for Women’s Doubles.

For Mixed Doubles, Cambodian players Bun Thounvireak and Mey Sreymeas also got lower scores than their Thai opponents Phakpong De Jaroen and Suphawadi Wongkhamchan 3-12 and 6-12 for Set 1 and Set 2, respectively.

In addition, Cambodian athletes Bun Thuonvireak and Ol Ravy could not defeated their Thai competitors Phakpong De Jaroen and Uthen Kukheaw with the total score of 3-12 and 5-12 for Set 1 and Set 2, individually.

Taqball is a ball sports played on a curved table. The players hit a football back and forth with any part of the body except arms and hands with the forms of singles (two players) and doubles (four players).
