National Library pushes self-learning through app

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Library (Perpusnas) has urged the community to learn independently or adopt the habit of self-learning with the help of the BintangPusnas Eduapplication, which is a part of the BintangPusenas super app."In accordance with the app's tagline, namely 'Libraries Approaching the Community,' teachers are expected to share (information about the app) with students for obtaining information to realize learning independence," head of the National Library's School Library Development Center, Nurcahyono, said here at a webinaron Monday. The informational webinar on the app was focused on teachers, lecturers, and school and college library administrators. "The Freedom in Learning and Freedom in Campus curriculums show that Indonesia must have a better curriculum that supports project-based learning activities by using high-level learning methods and based on problem-solving," he said. The features of BintangPusnas Edu are not limited to digital books, but also include audiobooks, videos, and learning tutorials, he said. Some of the new features of the app include the note feature, ease of conducting word searches in digital books, citations to book sections, and content chosen by the Perpusnas team. School library administrators and staff can also access and improve coordination and communication through the virtual meeting feature on BintangPusnas Edu. The app, which has a collection of more than 1.3 million digital books, had 8,563 users and 1,234 active borrowers as of April 2023. "The number of users needs to be increased, and for that, we hope that teachers, lecturers, and library managers can actively share information regarding this app so that students can use it for self-learning," Nurcahyono said. Furthermore, in order to optimize the use of BintangPusnas Edu, Perpusnas expects all libraries and librarians to obtain certification, he added. "We hope that all public and special libraries, as well as librarians, can be accredited, through training, technical mentoring, and various seminars like this," Nurcahyono said.
