Minister Hartarto meets US business representatives

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto held a meeting with representatives from US companies within the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) to discuss the strengthening of business relations that can boost economic growth.The meeting was attended by representatives from companies within the US-ABC, such as Boeing, IBM, VISA, Qualcomm, and Exxon. "The meeting aims to exchange views on methods to improve Business to Government (B2G) relations by utilizing the momentum of global economic recovery," Hartarto noted through an official statement, Tuesday. ccording to Hartarto, private sector actors in the US can play a crucial role in expediting Indonesia's economic recovery through clean energy program, connectivity, competitiveness, finance, and resilient health system amid global challenges. While opening the meeting, the minister noted that Indonesia's economy in 2022 grew to reach 5.31 percent, the second-highest among G20 countries after Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, representative from Qualcomm Nies Purwati stated that IBM Academy for Hybrid Cloud and AI was officially opened at the KEK Nongsa Digital Park in February 2023. "We expect support from companies and government for the existence of this academy," Purwati said. IBM Academy supports Indonesia to become the leading country in technology, with professionals possessing technical skills in accordance with the Indonesian Digital Economy Roadmap. Meanwhile, FedEx representative Choo Pin Ang emphasized that regulation and incentive simplification can support more seamless connectivity in the region. Moreover, he remarked that FedEx is ready to support Indonesia's 2023 ASEAN Chairmanship. Hartarto also noted that the discussion concerning supply chain will be one of the focuses of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Ministerial Meeting in Detroit on May 26-27, 2023.
