Cambodian PM Holds Talks with Vietnamese and Timorese Counterparts

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held separate bilateral talks with his Vietnamese and Timor-Leste counterparts this afternoon, during their stay in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia for the 42nd ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.

According to TVK’s special correspondent, in the meeting with H.E. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Samdech Techo Hun Sen asked Vietnam to support the construction of submarine power cable crossing Vietnamese sea, under the Cambodia-Singapore green energy trade.

In reply, H.E. Pham Minh Chinh pledged to dispatch Vietnamese experts to study the request and invited the Cambodian Premier to pay an official visit to Vietnam in the future. He also lauded the successful and fabulous opening ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia.

For the bilateral talk with H.E. Taur Matan Ruak, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, both leaders exchanged views on Timor-Leste’s ASEAN membership, both countries’cooperation, and so on.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his wish to see Timor-Leste become a full member of ASEAN, while H.E. Taur Matan Ruak said his presence at the 42nd ASEAN Summit is inseparable from Cambodia’s support.

On Cambodia-Timor-Leste cooperation, Samdech Techo Hun Sen encouraged Timorese investors to invest in Cambodia in rice milling for export to their country.

The Cambodian Prime Minister also shared his plan to send Cambodian agricultural experts to conduct soil study for agricultural purpose in Timor-Leste. H.E. Taur Matan Ruak accepted Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s recommendation on agricultural development to ensure food security.
