Australia Lauds Multi-Sector Cooperation with Cambodia

The Australian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Justin Kevin Whyatt has spoken highly of the relationship and cooperation between the two countries in many areas. 'Australia and Cambodia are connected in many ways. Our partnership is cemented in our history, enriched by the deep connections between our people, and our cooperation is expanding to take on new challenges,' said H.E. Justin Kevin Whyatt at the recent celebration of the Australian Day at the embassy in Phnom Penh. 'Our relationship covers many areas. We engage across health, education, agriculture, economic development, energy and climate, social protection, defence and security, civil society, democracy and human rights,' he underscored. According to the Australian Embassy's media release issued on Jan. 31, Australia Day is an opportunity for Australians to celebrate achievements and reflect on their country's history and stories. That includes more than 60,000 years of First Nations history, extending to the modern, diverse society Australia is t oday. It's also a time to connect with friends and make new ones, underlined the source, adding that the celebration welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction as Guest of Honour, and guests across government, civil society, the private sector and diplomatic community. The media release also laid stress on the partnership between ASEAN and Australia, stressing that they celebrate 50 years of dialogue partnership this year. Australia will welcome Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and other leaders from ASEAN and Timor-Leste to the Special Summit in March to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Australia relations. 'As ASEAN's first dialogue partner and Comprehensive Strategic Partner, Australia is strongly committed to ASEAN centrality and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.
