32nd SEA Games: Kun Khmer Kicks-Started

Kun Khmer at the 32nd SEA Games hosted by Cambodia was kicked started this afternoon at Morodok Elephant Hall 1, Morodok Techo National Stadium, Phnom Penh.

H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the Cambodian SEA Games-ASEAN Para Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC), presided over the opening ceremony of Kun Khmer tournament.

There are two events for today's tournament, including women's Kun Krou and Fighting.

Kun Khmer will have 19 events including 11 weight-categories for men, 6 weight-categories for women, and men and women Kun Khmer.

Participating countries include host Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, and Malaysia.

Some 25 sports coemptions are on today's programme-Boxing, Football, Kun Khmer, Kun Bokator, Pencak Silat, Sailing, Hockey, Volleyball, Jiu-Jitsu, Athletics, Obstacle Race, Triathlon, Cricket, Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), E-sports, Karate, Soft Tennis, Petanquue, Vovinam, Swimming, Mountain Bike, Basketball, Sepak Takraw and Teqball.

Regional athletes are set to compete in 37 sports with 581 events – 304 for men, 229 for women and 48 mixed – at the SEA Games 2023 being held in Cambodia from May 5 to 17.

Cambodia’s Gold Medal in Vovinam Won in Individual Self Defence Show

The gold medal clinched by Cambodia in Vovinam this morning was in Individual Self Defence Show at the 32nd SEA Games 2023, held at the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh.

The gold medalist was Ly Boramy who defeated his rivals with the top score of (272), followed by Vietnam (267), Thailand (260), and Myanmar (259).

However, Cambodia did not perform well for Pair Women' Self Defence when Sok Nydanuth and Pov Sokha got the lowest score of 261. While Myanmar stood at the top score list (272), both Indonesia and Thailand earned the same points (263).

For Four Men' Self Defence, Cambodia ranked 3rd with a total point of 263, preceded by Myanmar (272), Vietnam (267), and followed by Indonesia (259) and Lao PDR (252).

Cambodian Chess Player Earns a Gold Medal

Chess player Sok Limheng on Saturday won a gold medal in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess) topping Men’s Single 5-Minute event at the 32nd SEA Games.

Crowned “Sdech Ouk” (King of Chess) in Cambodia in 2018 and 2023, Sok Limheng grabbed the gold medal after beating his Vietnamese counterpart.

Cambodia has now got in total 8 gold medals (one in Jiu-Jitsu, four in Kun Bokator, one in Triathlon, one Vovinam, and one in Ouk Chaktrang), five silver and two bronze medals.

Ouk Chaktrang or Cambodian chess, is one of the three identity sports listed in the SEA Games 2023.

The Ouk Chaktrang events are taking place from April 29 to May 9 with seven events.

A 1,203-strong Cambodian delegation, including 896 athletes, have been taking part in the 32nd SEA Games that the Kingdom is hosting for the first time in 64 years under the motto “Sport: Live in Peace”.

As the host country, Cambodia decided not to charge food and accommodation services for sport delegations to the regional games.

Over 12,000 athletes from 11 participating countries are set to compete in 37 sports with 581 events – 304 for men, 229 for women and 48 mixed – at the SEA Games 2023 under the banner “Cambodia 2023”, held from May 5 to 17.

Cambodia bagged 63 medals – nine gold, 13 silver and 41 bronze –in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in 2022.

Cambodia Remains at Top List of SEA Games’ Medal Table on Second Day

Cambodia, the host country, remains at the first place for medal tally on the second day of SEA Games 2023 with 19 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals.

The figures were updated by the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC) as of May 6, at 10:30 pm.

Of the 19 gold medals, 4 were won in Kun Bokator, 4 in Vovinam, 3 in Chinlone, 2 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Kun Khmer, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 1 in Aquathlon, 1 in Soft Tennis, and 1 in E-Sports.

Indonesia ranked second with 8 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze medals; while the third, fourth and fifth places went to Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam with 7 gold, 10 silver and 16 bronze; 7 gold, 9 silver and 14 bronze; and 6 gold, 11 silver and 19 bronze, respectively.

Singapore came in sixth with 5 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals, followed by Myanmar with 3 gold, 1 silver and 10 bronze; Laos with 2 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze; Malaysia with 2 gold, 2 silver and 9 bronze; and Brunei and Timor-Leste with a bronze medal each.

Some 25 Sports on Competition Programme Today

The Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC) said there will be competitions of about 25 types of sports today.

Some of the sports continued their competitions, while others are starting today, said CAMSOC.

Those sports include Boxing, Football, Kun Khmer, Kun Bokator, Pencak Silat, Sailing, Hockey, Volleyball, Jiu-Jitsu, Athletics, Obstacle Race, Triathlon, Cricket, Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), E-sports, Karate, Soft Tennis, Petanque, Vovinam, Swimming, Mountain Bike, Basketball, Sepak Takraw, and Teqball.

Cambodia has so far bagged seven gold medals in Kun Bokator, Jiu-Jitsu, Aquathlon, and Vovinam, making the Kingdom temporarily at the top of the Medal Table.

32nd SEA Games: Cambodia Grabs Two More Gold Medals

Two gold medals were grabbed by Cambodia, the host country, this morning at the 32nd SEA Games.

The gold medalists are Ms. Magod Morokot Garabidian in Women's Aquathlon Sprint Distance and Mr. Ly Boramy in Vovinam.

This morning, Triathlon events kicked off in Kep province; while Vovinam event at the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh.

So far, Cambodia has earned 7 gold medals (one in Jiu-Jitsu, four in Kun Bokator, one in Triathlon, and one Vovinam), five silver and two bronze medals.

All hands on deck for ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo

Two EV charging stations in Badung ready for use: PLN
