West Papua provides digital waqf registration technical assistance

We upgraded the application so that it can also serve as a platform to register waqf land Manokwari, West Papua (ANTARA) - The Religious Affairs Ministry's Regional Office in West Papua Province is providing technical assistance for the digital registration of waqf land via the E-AIW (Electronic Waqf Pledge Deed) application from May 2830, 2023.The government has shifted the waqf land registration mechanism from the conventional to a digital one, a policy analyst at the regional office's Islamic information on the implementation of zakat and waqf section, Auliyah Anshor, said in Manokwari on Monday. "Today, we no longer use blanks. Everything has been digitized," he added. The participants of the technical assistance event consisted of the heads of the Religious Affairs Offices (KUAs) of West Papua and Southwest Papua and other internal ranks of the ministry, both from the provincial and district/municipal levels, he said. The Religious Affairs Ministry had adopted the electronic system last year, but its use had been limited to waqf land recapitulation, instead of registration. The event aimed to provide training and assistance to all operators (of waqf land registration) in the hopes of optimally implementing the new method of land registration via the E-AIW application in the regions. "We upgraded the application so that it can also serve as a platform to register waqf land," he informed. nshor disclosed that his office will integrate the waqf land registration via E-AIW for certifications with the Waqf Information System (Siwak) pioneered by the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN). With that in mind, the Religious Affairs Ministry's Regional Office in West Papua will proceed to sign a cooperation agreement with its counterpart from the ATR/BPN Ministry as a follow-up action to the ministerial-level cooperation in Jakarta. "The ministerial-level agreement will be carried on at the regional levels. Once the cooperation at the provincial level has been agreed, then it will be continued at the district/municipal level," Anshor said. He further said that his office is actively spreading the word on waqf land to local residents through the province's KUAs. So far, out of 13 districts/cities in two provinces (West Papua and Southwest Papua), only Maybrat and Tambrauw districts still do not have KUA Offices. Registrations of waqf land in the two districts will initially be processed manually before being submitted on the E-AIW application, he explained. "The most important thing is that the land has a complete set of documents required so that we can submit the registration to the application," he added.
