Indonesian President Joko Widodo will visit Singapore from 8 to 9 October 2019 for the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. This will be Prime Minister Lee's fourth Leaders' Retreat with President Joko Widodo, and comes ahead of President Joko Widodo's second term. The previous Leaders' Retreat was held in Bali, Indonesia, on 11 October 2018.
During the Leaders' Retreat, Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo will take stock of the progress in bilateral cooperation and follow up on discussions at the 2018 Retreat. In looking ahead to President Joko Widodo's second term in office, both sides will explore ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, across the economic, socio-cultural and security spheres. Prime Minister Lee and President Joko Widodo will also witness the signing of an Agreement between Indonesia and Singapore on Electronic Data Exchange to Facilitate and Secure Trade, and a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Archives of both countries on Archives Cooperation.
Prime Minister Lee and Mrs Lee will then host dinner for President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo and the Indonesian delegation.
President Joko Widodo will be accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, and a high-level delegation comprising Ministers and Ministerial-ranked officials. The Singapore delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, and other Cabinet Ministers.
