IRVINE, California, Dec. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Interush is pleased to announce that the North China Electric Power University representing the People’s Republic of China in the 2014 Enactus World Cup won first place, beating out 33 other national finalists teams from around the world.
Entrepreneurial student teams from 34 respected universities worldwide were judged through a series of regional, national and international competitions on their effective use of entrepreneurial action to empower people to improve their lives in a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable way. Top teams from 34 competing countries were invited to present their projects on a global stage at the Enactus World Cup final round that was held in Beijing and judged by Fortune 500 executives from companies such as Vizio, Walmart and KPMG. The final four World Cup teams were from China, Morocco, Puerto Rico and Ireland.
China’s team won first place for their work creating a company designed to modify and install a hybrid solar and wind power generating system, which provided electricity to goat herding families in Inner Mongolia. Due to the team’s ingenuity and intense work, the herdsmen now have access to 33 times more power, which allows them to use equipment and electricity that increases work productivity and radically improves their living conditions. The team was awarded three patents for the solutions they created.
