In a ceremony held at Bedok Police Division on 15 April 2019, three members of the public were commended for their acts of public spiritedness in assisting the Police in three separate cases.

In the first case, on 22 March 2018, Mr Muhammad Afiq Bin Roslee had assisted in apprehending a man for shop theft at a supermarket at Tampines Mart. The man was suspected to have walked out of the supermarket with unpaid items and started running away when being shouted at and chased by a security officer of the supermarket. Mr Muhammad Afiq immediately gave chase and managed to assist the security officer in detaining the man. Several perishable items belonging to the supermarket were found in the man's possession.

In the second case, on 1 November 2018, Mr Muhammad Zakaria Bin Rosli courageously assisted the Police in apprehending a man at Bedok Community Centre. The man was subsequently arrested for drug-related offences.

In the last case, on 3 March 2019, Mr Satesh Kumar A/L Raman had assisted in apprehending a man who tried to flee after committing a sexual act along Upper East Coast Road. The man was subsequently handed over to the Police upon their arrival.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Tan Tin Wee, Commander of Bedok Police Division said: We applaud the three individuals who had received the award today for their crucial public-spirited interventions in rendering assistance to police officers and members of the public who were in need. In so doing, these individuals had contributed in no small way towards enhancing the safety and security of their communities. Their actions are a good example for others and a testament to the strong sense of partnership between the Police and the community.
