Reply to Media Queries on the Peace Carvin V (PC V) detachment winning the Best Maintenance Unit award during Exercise Red Flag – Nellis
In response to media queries on the Peace Carvin V (PC V) detachment winning the Best Maintenance Unit award during Exercise Red Flag – Nellis, including (i) the ground crew’s involvement in the exercise and the criteria they were evaluated on, as well as (ii) the challenges they faced, how they overcame them and their winning strategy, MINDEF issued the following reply:
The RSAF took part in Exercise Red Flag – Nellis, alongside the United States Air Force and French Air Force from 14 to 26 July 2014. This was the inaugural participation of the RSAF F-15SGs in the exercise. The ground crew from Peace Carvin V (PC V) was responsible to keep the aircraft in top condition to generate and sustain the F-15SGs for their missions. They were evaluated based on best deployment preparation, most effective maintenance practices, efficient generation rates and best esprit-de-corps.
The F-15SG maintenance crew faced real-time exercise challenges where the organisers simulated obstacles to test the ground crew’s adaptability and processes or attempted to hinder aircraft generation and maintenance operations. The ground crew however, worked closely together in their respective roles to overcome these challenges.
The exposure to such a large-scale exercise has been a great learning experience and has provided an excellent training platform for the PC V detachment.
