TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with New Singaporean Ambassador to Tehran Ong Keng Yong underlined that there are no obstacles to the further development of the relations between the two nations.

“Given the age-old friendship between the two countries, there are no obstacles to the expansion of relations, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to develop its ties with Singapore in different fields of energy, exchange of science and technology and cultural cooperation,” Rouhani said during the meeting in Tehran on Sunday.

He also stressed the necessity for increased trade interactions and relations between Iranian and Singaporean companies and private sectors to enhance the two countries’ trade and economic ties.

The Singaporean diplomat, for his part, called for expanding cooperation and enhancement of trade and economic exchanges with Iran, and emphasized the necessity for the further reinvigoration of cultural and tourism ties between the two countries.

A large number of Singaporean companies have shown interest in serious cooperation with Iran.

The interest was shown by the representatives of over 110 major Singaporean companies participating in a conference titled ‘Introduction to Trade and Investment Opportunities in Iran’ in Singapore in June.

A number of prominent Singaporean personalities and corporate mangers voiced their willingness to invest in Iran at the conference.

Referring to their recent visit to Iran as members of a trade delegation, the Singaporean managers said that they had been persuaded not to miss the golden opportunity to invest in Iran.

The one-day economic gathering was sponsored and chaired by the Iranian Embassy in Singapore.

Speaking at the conference, Iranian Ambassador to Singapore Javad Ansari enumerated the privileges of foreign trade with Iran under the current conditions.

In early February, a high-ranking Singaporean delegation visited Tehran to pave the ground for the further development of economic cooperation with Iran.

The delegation, comprising tradesmen and senior officials of 30 major Singaporean companies, visited Iran on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

The visit provided the Singaporean companies with the capacities of Iran’s economy.
