His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to attend the National Day Parade 2015 held in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Singapore.
Before the parade which took place at the Padang commenced, His Majesty consented to attend a reception held at the National Gallery Singapore where His Majesty was greeted on arrival by Lui Tuck Yew, Minister of Transport and Second Minister of Defence; and Grace Fu Hai Yien, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister of Environment and Water Resources, and Second Minister of Foreign Affairs.
His Majesty then proceeded to Gallery 3 where His Majesty was greeted by Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore. His Majesty then consented to join other heads of state and government as well as other special guests for the reception.
After the reception, His Majesty and the other guests went to the Grand Stand to witness the National Day Parade 2015 that was themed “Majulah Singapura” (Onward Singapore).
The theme calls on Singaporeans to reflect on what Singapore has achieved over the last 50 years and anticipate a brighter future together as one Singapore. More than 2,000 people took part in the parade.
Accompanying His Majesty were Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office.
