The Police will be charging a 26-year-old man in court on 13 May 2019, for his suspected involvement in a case of criminal trespass and for insulting the modesty of a woman.
On 11 May 2019 at 8.08am, the Police were alerted to a case where a 23-year-old female victim was filmed while showering at one of the residential halls at the National University of Singapore.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of CCTV footage, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the man and subsequently arrested him on the same day. His laptops, mobile phones and other storage devices were seized for further investigations.
Investigations revealed that the man is a student of the university and resides in the same residential hall as the victim. The man will be charged with criminal trespass under Section 447 of the Penal Code and insulting the modesty of a woman under Section 509 of the Penal Code. If convicted of criminal trespass, he is liable to be sentenced to an imprisonment term of up to three months, or a fine of up to $1500, or both.
