The Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft in dwelling cases.
On 30 April 2019 at 4.19pm, the police received a report of cough syrup stolen from a clinic along Bedok North Street 1.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was believed to be involved in a series of theft of cough syrup at clinics along Bedok Road and Bedok North Street 1.
During a joint operation conducted on 1 May 2019, officers from Bedok Police Division and the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) seized a total of approximately 18 gallons of cough syrup.
The man will be charged in court on 2 May 2019 for the offence of theft in dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he shall be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to 7 years, or with a fine, or with both. He is separately being investigated by HSA for the offence of Prohibitions Against Supply of Unregistered Health Products under Section 15(1) of the Health Products Act. If convicted, he shall be punished with imprisonment term which may extend to 2 years and a fine not exceeding $50,000, or with both.
