Atos business technologists enhance the Games with breakthrough 3D Display System and real time online video player for another successful Youth Olympic Games
SYDNEY, Sept. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Atos, a leader in the Sports and Major Events IT industry and the worldwide Information Technology (IT) Partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, today announced it has completed the IT operations for the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games. As Chief IT System Integrator, Atos was ultimately responsible for all aspects of the smooth and secure running of the Games — from designing and building the complex IT systems through to managing all the IT partners and operating the mission critical IT infrastructure, including the real-time distribution of Games results to the world.
During Nanjing 2014, Atos business technologists worked around the clock to deliver the critical Games Management and Information Systems that facilitated the following:
- Processing and delivery of over 200,000 accreditation badges to the YOG family including IOC, athletes, media, National Olympic Committees and International Sports Federation;
- Infrastructure implementation of more than 2,000 PCs in over 30 venues;
- Up to 1,000,000 files uploaded to the result channel
- Delivering accurate real-time results and data from all 28 sports to official website and worldwide broadcasters.
In addition to delivering all the planned IT services on schedule and within budget, Atos also introduced new innovations including the integration of 3D modeling system into other operation and monitoring applications, which transformed the technology operation into a visualized management platform. This proprietary system uses 3D and 2D graphic displays to familiarize the team with the operating environments and respective roles before and during the Games. It also launched the Olympic Video Player (OVP) for Olympic Broadcast Service (OBS), which enabled users to view 24-hour live streaming of more than 220 sporting events as well as video and audio of these events on demand with statistics on their computers, smart phones and mobile devices. The OVP provides unprecedented coverage for the Games, bringing it to more people with new ways to enjoy the competitions and events.
Mr Tang Jian Rong, Director of the Information Technology Dept. Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee, said, “The past 12 days is the epitome of hard work, and cross-country collaborations.
