Malaysia's industry is looking forward to implement Internet of Things (IoT) in key sectors encompassing manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, commerce and agriculture, said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Chief Officer of Communications and Digital Ecosystem, Datuk Mohd Ali Hanafiah, in a statement today said these sectors could ride on the rapid development of IoT to drive the reindustrialisation agenda based on intelligent manufacturing.

"Reindustrialisation could provide a much-needed diversified new economic growth for the country.

"Advance manufacturing industries using robotics and information technology will also drive the development of the entire value chain, research and development, production, marketing and branding," he said earlier at the opening of the 'Internet of Things - Disruptive Technology' Seminar here.

Jointly organised by the MCMC, Intel Malaysia and GS1 Malaysia, the seminar saw experts from Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia sharing their best practices, latest IoT information and demo focusing on industrial, energy, smart building and other verticals.

The objective of the seminar is to promote digital empowerment for industries adopting IoT.
