TEHRAN, Iran Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that he has no plans to meet with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Singapore, Xinhua news agency reported Friday.

The two will participate in the 51st ASEAN foreign ministers meeting in Singapore.

"Meeting for the sake of meeting means nothing. The Americans have to show that the meetings will lead to agreements that will be respected.

''Today, even allies of the Americans cannot trust the commitments made by Washington," Zarif was quoted by the official IRNA news agency on Thursday.

The Iranian foreign minister ruled out any dialogue with the US under pressure and threats.

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had also dismissed any possibility for holding negotiations with the US to settle the dispute over Iran's nuclear deal in 2015.

"We cannot rely on the words of the Americans. Their signature is meaningless," Khamenei said.

US President Donald Trump, who quit the nuclear deal in May, has offered to meet with Iranian leaders to stem the rising tension following a spat between the two countries.
