Dhaka, Aug 11 (UNB) BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday night left Singapore for the USA for better medical treatment.
“Mr Fakhrul Islam, accompanied by his wife Rahat Ara Begum flew to New York on advice of doctors at the Singapore National University Hospital where he was receiving treatment,” BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan told UNB on Tuesday.
The BNP leader will consult a doctor of Cornell Hospital in New York on Thursday morning, the party sources said.
On July 26, Fakhrul went to Singapore after getting released from jail on bail for six weeks.
Six months after his arrest, Fakhrul who has been facing a number of cases relating to political violence, was released from jail on July 14.
