Eight Gold Medals Added to Cambodia’s Medal Tally

Cambodia earned eight more gold medals as of this afternoon from the 32nd SEA Games being hosted by the Kingdom.

The eight new gold medals were grabbed in Vovinam, Soft Tennis, E-sport, Cricket, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Basketball, and Pencak Silat, bringing the total gold medals to 28.

Of the 28 gold medals, 6 were won in Vovinam, 4 in Kun Bokator, 3 in Chinlone, 3 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Kun Khmer, 2 in Soft Tennis, 2 in E-Sports, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 1 in Aquathlon, 1 in Basketball, 1 in Cricket, 1 in Karate, and 1 in Pencak Silat, making the Kingdom temporarily at the top of the Medal Table.

Cambodia thus broke its SEA Games medal record compared to the 17 gold medals gained in the SEA Games hosted by Malaysia in 1971.

A 1,203-strong Cambodian delegation, including 896 athletes, have been taking part in the 32nd SEA Games that the Kingdom is hosting for the first time in 64 years under the motto “Sport: Living in Peace”.

Cambodia bagged 63 medals – nine gold, 13 silver and 41 bronze – in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in 2022.
