Cambodian PM to Participate in 42nd ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Indonesia

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen will lead a high-level delegation to attend the 42nd ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in the Republic of Indonesia as this year’s rotating Chair of ASEAN.

The participation will be made at the invitation of H.E. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, according to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a press release made public on May 7.

During the 42nd ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings to be held on May 10-11, 2023 in Labuan Bajo under the theme of “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth”, the ASEAN Leaders will deliberate ways and means to sustain the momentum of the ASEAN Community-building, advance the ASEAN’s sustainable development agenda to realise an inclusive, participatory, and collaborative Community, and accelerate the development of the ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision to make the ASEAN a future-oriented Community for a peaceful, stable, secure, prosperous and resilient region.

They will also exchange views on regional and international issues of common concerns and interests, including the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar and the ASEAN Leaders’ Decision, and application of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific region.

During his stay in Labuan Bajo, Samdech Techo Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with some ASEAN counterparts and dignitaries.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister will be accompanied by H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce, and a number of senior government officials and businesspeople of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.

On the eve of the 42nd ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings, H.E. Prak Sokhonn will take part in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), the 26th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting and the 33rd ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) Meeting, in preparation for the Summit.
