Cambodia Sees Benefits from SEA Games

As the host of the 32nd SEA Games, Cambodia has worked hard to host the games seeing benefits: domestic expenditure, promotion of the country’s reputation on the international stage, potential investment attraction, and people’s reputation.

H.E. Ky Sereyvath, Economics expert and Director General of the Institute of China Studies at the Royal Academy of Cambodia, told AKP in a recent interview that although the Royal Government of Cambodia has spent million U.S. dollars in organising the 32nd SEA Games, it benefits the country greatly.

The host country is providing free entry for the spectators to all tournaments, free accommodation and food for all sport delegates, and free broadcasting rights for all media partners positively profiling Cambodia to the world, said H.E. Ky Sereyvath.

“Once the country’s market is known, Cambodia will benefit from tourism. Tourism brings income to the people.”

The SEA Games will also attract more investors to Cambodia through the spread of information about Cambodia by international media around the world.

The SEA Games at the same time made the Cambodian people themselves aware of the development, democracy and patriotism.

Cambodia was highly appreciated by Southeast Asian and other countries as the host of the 32nd SEA Games from May 5 to 17 under the motto "Sport: Living in Peace".

This reaffirms the Kingdom's commitment to hosting the regional sports ensuring warm hospitality, friendship with all participating regional countries.

SEA Games 2023 is welcoming over 12,400 athletes, coaches, and staff from the ten ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste.
