Bokor Mountain: A strawberry farm atop Bokor Mountain is proving to be a sweet success, drawing crowds of tourists and boosting the region’s appeal. What began as an experimental project in 2023 has blossomed into a key attraction within Preah Monivong Bokor National Park.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the farm was initiated as a research project and has now transformed into a thriving commercial venture. General Manager Mr. Kim Moung stated, “We’ve turned our research into a thriving farm. Our South Korean-imported plants are yielding delicious strawberries, and visitors are loving it.”
The farm spans half a hectare and is now accessible to the public with an entry fee of US$1. It harvests 15-20 kilogrammes of strawberries daily. While it takes several months for seedlings to bear fruit, grafted plants provide a quicker yield, which is a significant draw for both domestic and international tourists.
The farm experiences a steady flow of visitors, with weekdays attracting 20-30 people, and a significant increase on weekends, bringing in 400-500 visitors, as mentioned by Mr. Kim Moung.
Mr. Say Sinol, Director of the Kampot Provincial Tourism Department, highlighted the farm’s unique appeal, noting, “Strawberries are a rare treat here. Tourists are eager to taste them, see how they’re grown, and experience something different.”
The Bokor Mountain strawberry farm has become a must-see destination, enhancing Kampot’s reputation as a burgeoning tourist hotspot.
