How long the Assad’s regime will resist?

Since the turmoil kicked off in Syria, sadly the Assad’s regime has not come up with any positive or an ideal response to the suggestions of the world’s superpowers in order to bring peace in the country, and that rigidness by Assad’s regime in Syria, has badly destroyed the country and distracted it to go towards peace and stability. It is sad to witness that this current turmoil of Syria, has jumped into its fifth year and none of us, knows that how long will that turmoil sustain more and if it is the case, then none of the world’s superpowers, will be able to keep the Gulf region away from heading towards debacle, which may overwhelm the rest of the world. As we go through the situation of the Gulf region, so we come across that the world’s superpowers and the stakeholders of the Gulf region has very confined options and they are running out of time, so taking right decision at the right time has to be the policy of the world’s superpowers and the stakeholders of the Gulf region.

What will happen if the Assad’s regime voluntarily steps down?

Although, it does not seem realistic thinking so far, but let’s assume if the Assad’s regime voluntarily steps down and agrees to the new and fair presidential elections in the country, so that may somehow support its moral credibility and will be the beginning to bring the country towards the right track of peace and stability that got off since the turmoil took place in the country. As the country has witnessed much destruction because of the intense turmoil in the country, so that paved a way for the thought to emerge all across the country that the Assad’s regime must step down and the transition of power must take place, which also happens to be the stance of Munzer Akbik, who is the member of the main opposition Syrian National Council. So if the Assad’s regime voluntarily steps down so that will pave a way for the peaceful transition of the power in Syria and that will eventually help the Bashar Al-Assad to keep his relation way from being more worse with the rest of the world.

The G.C.C and the United States’ current aims

During the meeting between the members of the G.C.C and the president Barack Obama, both the G.C.C and the United States have come to a conclusion that there has to be a need to stay much vigilant about the wrong actions of the regime of Iran in the Gulf region, which indicates that the United States, seems to agree with the stance of the all the members of the G.C.C. As this meeting got finished, so that revealed other more important things related to the peace and stability of the Gulf region and that includes keeping an eye on Iran’s ballistic missile program, and its support for terrorist groups such as Hezbollah and its strategy of playing proxy war in Syria, Yemen and Lebanon. Both the United States and the members of the G.C.C have also agreed to boost up the joint comprehensive plan of action on Iran and both of them have noticed, that the successful implementation of the plan has also succeeded in keeping Iran away from developing nuclear weapons.

The current stance of both G.C.C and United States over Syria

During the meeting of both G.C.C members and the president of the United States, Barack Obama both United States and the G.C.C manifested their support and solidarity with the people of Syria, who have been seeing their country in turmoil for almost 5 years. During the meeting both G.C.C and United States also focused on the importance of the full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254, which asks the regime of Syria to ensure the immediate humanitarian access to the besieged and hard to reach areas of the country. Keeping the other things apart, the current regime must at least ensure the immediate humanitarian access to the areas which are in the immense need of humanitarian activities and that if the current regime of Syria also fails in it, so that will also strengthen the thought that the current regime has properly failed to sustain the right to govern the country.

G.C.C and United States’ efforts to resolve conflicts in the Gulf region

Both G.C.C and United States, have stated that there is a need for a political transition without Bashar Assad and as the details of that meeting started coming, so that also revealed their aim to accelerate cooperation at all the fronts in order to properly resolve regional conflicts with intensifying the information sharing and improve the marine security cooperation with implementing an integrated ballistic missile defense and early warning system. As G.C.C and United States have agreed on many issues, which are their equal concerns when it comes to the Gulf region, so that also includes the concern over the issues of refugees and internally displaced people and both G.C.C and United states emphasize on the need of additional assistance for the refugees, who got displaced because of the intense turmoil in their countries and it is not wrong to say that the country, whose people have got affected most and got displaced, is none other than Syria. The members of the G.C.C and the United States also discussed about the high-level Summit on the Refugees that is going to take place in September 2016.

No matter on how many things, both the G.C.C and the United States, agree, yet in order to fully bring peace, stability in the Gulf region with witnessing the peaceful transition of power in Syria, the United States will eventually have to come ahead and bring the Arab world and the Iran together and put its efforts into helping both sides to reduce their grievance in order to kick off a new beginning in the Gulf region. And that has to be the ultimate goal of all the stakeholders, because the more they stay united, the more they will be heading towards their actual goal and that is to eliminate the extremism and terrorism from the region.
