Intesa Sanpaolo: 20 million euros from the Charity Fund in 2023

The president of Intesa Sanpaolo, Gian Maria Gros-Pietro

TURIN, Italy, April 17, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —  Intesa Sanpaolo’s Charitable and Social and Cultural Works Fund, under the Bank’s Chairmanship, will be able to erogate 20 million euros in 2023 to third-sector entities to counter difficult situations made even more severe by the recent health, economic and social crisis.

There are four priority themes of action: emergency interventions against poverty, support for women and minors who are victims of violence, fight against educational poverty and the digital divide, support for NEETs (young people who neither study nor work) and ELETs (young people who drop out early school or training activities).

“A country in which the social gap continues to widen is not a country that can grow peacefully. This is the founding premise on which Intesa Sanpaolo’s commitment to come to the aid of people and families in difficulty starts, a commitment which The 2022-2025 Business Plan has been doubled in the number of interventions The Charity Fund has been contributing to this goal for some time and will again concentrate resources in 2023, 20 million euros, to reduce the social, educational and digital gaps that limit the full development of the country and of the people”, says the president of Intesa Sanpaolo, Gian Maria Gros-Pietro.

New to 2023 is the project to analyze the economic impact of the Charity Fund’s activity carried out with Altis Advisory, a spin-off of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan, which aimed at figuring out the economic value generated. According to the project the disbursements of the Fund generates a ‘four’ multiplier effect of the social and economic value of the goods and services rendered by third sector entities (ETS). For example January 2021-October 2022, given 18.8 million euros disbursed (Economic Value Delivered), 78.2 million euros of impact were paid with economic resources ‘freed up’ for other needs (economic value generated).

In the last 5 years, 71 million have been disbursed by the Fund, for a total of over 4,000 projects supported: last year, in particular, 16 million euros were erogated for 65,000 direct beneficiaries.

Acronis Cyber Foundation Program and GoDaddy Pro announce the completion of school construction projects in Sierra Leone and Guatemala

The leading cyber protection company, with support from GoDaddy Pro, delivers improved infrastructure and boundless educational opportunities to over 645 students in underserved communities

Acronis and GoDaddy Pro TeamUp to create new schools

Acronis Cyber Foundation Program and GoDaddy Pro announce the completion of school construction projects in Sierra Leone and Guatemala

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland, April 17, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Acronis Cyber Foundation Program is proud to announce the completion of new school construction in Sierra Leone and Guatemala. In partnership with GoDaddy Inc. (NYSE: GDDY), the company that helps entrepreneurs thrive, both construction projects uphold the Program’s mission to help and empower children with modern educational infrastructure and learning environments.

The Barbara Junior Secondary School in Sierra Leone was completed in September 2022 and included the development of three separate buildings designed to maximize natural light and fresh air. The school is located in the village of Barbara in Sierra Leone’s Port Loko district, an agricultural region where most families have an income of less than $2 per day. Built with sustainable resources readily available in the immediate community including bamboo and interlocking brick masonry, the construction began in December 2021 with NGO partner Forikolo and is expected to be attended by over 120 pupils. The school features amenities to support disabled children, a hygiene room for girls, and the distribution of free hygiene products.

“These construction projects would not have been possible without the continued efforts of the Acronis Cyber Foundation Program and the extreme generosity of GoDaddy Pro,” said Patrick Pulvermueller, CEO, Acronis. “We work with tens of thousands of partners worldwide and over the past five years, we have successfully and positively impacted thousands of children together with our partners through the determinations of the Foundation. We are so thankful to our partners who have joined our mission to help those in underserved communities.”

In 2019, the Acronis Cyber Foundation Program, Cloudfest and NGO partner Esperanza e.V. built five new classrooms to extend the existing Escuela Oficial Urbana Mixta San Antonio School in Guatemala. Prior to the Program’s involvement, the school’s 525 students shared just 10 classrooms which led to significant overcrowding. GoDaddy Pro joined the initiative in 2021 and helped fund the latest construction project which includes remodeling and expanding three classrooms of the current facility, four additional classrooms, and proper stairs. The next goal for the school in San Antonio, Guatemala will be the development of a modern computer classroom that will allow students to optimize educational resources.

“These projects align with GoDaddy’s mission to make opportunity more inclusive for all. The successful completion of these projects provides communities with the educational resources they need and deserve,” said Paul Bindel, President of GoDaddy Partners. “We’re proud our efforts and partnership with Acronis created momentum in these communities and gave these students a chance at a formal, modern education.”

Founded in 2018, the Acronis Cyber Foundation Program has been strongly dedicated to education by funding school construction and bringing IT skills training to communities around the globe. In addition to building 18 schools and seven computer classrooms, the Program has engaged in educational projects with over 19,000 people participating in Acronis IT Skills Programs worldwide. It has brought humanitarian aid to more than 5,000 persons in underserved communities.

The Acronis Cyber Foundation Program is focused on partnering with other organizations to help make a difference. Acronis invites all businesses, large or small, to engage in joint projects. For partners wanting to develop their own community development plans, the Program can also help in supporting other initiatives. To join our mission, please visit: www.acronis.org.

Philips joins forces with AWS to bring Philips HealthSuite Imaging PACS to the cloud and advance AI-enabled tools in support of clinicians

April 17, 2023

  • Market-leading Philips PACS is now available on AWS for industry-leading availability, reliability, security, and AI-supported workflow enhancements
  • Expansion of the collaboration with AWS will support the development and deployment of generative AI applications that further support efficient clinical workflows and enhance diagnostic capabilities

Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Chicago, USA – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology today announced the availability of Philips HealthSuite Imaging on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Additionally, Philips and AWS will build on their relationship, advancing AI in healthcare by applying Foundation Models using Amazon Bedrock to accelerate the development of cloud-based generative AI applications that will provide clinical decision support, help enable more accurate diagnoses, and automate administrative tasks.

The availability of Philips HealthSuite Imaging on AWS is a new addition to Philips’ broad capabilities in enterprise informatics, enabling improved image access speeds, reliability, and data orchestration for radiologists and clinicians across the entire imaging workflow – from diagnosis to therapy selection, treatment and follow-up. Clinicians will be able to access the latest innovations from any location, and healthcare organizations can reduce costs previously invested in on-premises hardware or data centers to host their image management platform.

Philips can help clinicians manage growing workloads amidst staff shortages and speed time to diagnosis and treatment, enhancing patient outcomes. Philips HealthSuite Imaging will use Amazon HealthLake Imaging to increase scale, deliver fast time to first image, enable easy re-use of images for Machine Learning and research, and reduce medical imaging costs.

Philips will also use Amazon Bedrock as part of its efforts to develop generative AI applications to advance PACS image processing capabilities and simplify clinical workflows and voice recognition. Amazon Bedrock will enable Philips to develop Machine Learning-based applications quickly and reduce model development costs versus building Foundational Models (FMs) from scratch or running multiple task-specific model development efforts.

“With healthcare systems under increasing pressure, the focus of clinicians’ has shifted from technical specifications towards more efficient workflows that lead to accurate diagnoses – and that’s what we are delivering here,” said Shez Partovi, Chief Innovation & Strategy Officer and Business Leader Enterprise Informatics at Philips. “By shifting from on-premises to the cloud, we can leverage the security, reliability, and unmatched breadth and depth of AWS to support healthcare organizations in their mission to deliver high quality care while easing the burden on their staff.”

“Healthcare organizations are looking for ways to decrease operational costs, improve health data interoperability, and enable data-driven decision making for clinicians to improve access to quality patient-centered care,” said Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of database, analytics, and machine learning at AWS. “Through democratizing access to generative AI and applying FMs to help support clinical decision-making, increase diagnostic accuracy, and automate administrative tasks, AWS will continue to support Philips as they uncover new ways to simplify radiologists’ workflow and reduce cognitive burden and clinician burnout.”

Philips and AWS provide migration expertise and planning services, total-cost-of-ownership analysis, and cybersecurity technical expertise to enable an easy migration from on-premises to cloud-based solutions for customers.
