The Palestinian National Authority's Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Sabri Saidam is visiting Singapore from 31 October to 2 November 2016 to learn about Singapore's approach to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Dr Saidam, accompanied by officials from the PNA's Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Ministry of Labour, is in Singapore at the invitation of Acting Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) Ong Ye Kung under the auspices of Singapore's Enhanced Technical Assistance Package (ETAP) for the Palestinians. The visit is a follow-up to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's visit to the Palestinian Territories in April 2016, during which Prime Minister Lee reaffirmed Singapore's commitment to support the Palestinians in capacity-building.

The PNA delegation met with Acting Minister Ong earlier this afternoon. Both Ministers expressed their support for cooperation between Singapore and the PNA in TVET through the ETAP. The delegation will visit the Institute of Technical Education and will be briefed on Singapore's approach towards encouraging lifelong learning and skills development through the SkillsFuture movement.
