About 840,000 households living in Housing Development Board (HDB) flats will receive the next instalment of the GST Voucher-Utilities-Save (U-Save) rebate in October to offset their utilities bills, said the Ministry of Finance in a media release on Sunday (Oct 2).

Those living in 1- and 2-room HDB flats will get a rebate of S$65. The rebates are able to offset about 3 to 4 months of utilities bills on average, the ministry said.

Those living in 3-room flats will get S$60, and those in 4-room HDB flats will get S$55 in rebates. These will help offset about 1 to 2 months of utilities bills on average, added the ministry.

The GST Voucher U-Save costs S$190 million annually. It provides lower- and middle-income HDB households with a rebate to offset their utilities bills, and is paid every January, April, July and October. -
